How it works
Color Remover is a single-purpose tool: you give it an image and a color, and it erases every pixel that matches. The result is a PNG with transparency where the color used to be.
The matching is hue-based, so picking “red” will catch every shade of red in the picture. The tolerance slider widens or narrows the match. The lightness range slider lets you isolate light shades from dark ones — useful when an image has, say, a light pink background but a dark red object you want to keep.
All of the work happens in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. No upload, no server, no tracking. Close the tab and the image is gone.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Color Remover free?
- Yes. Color Remover is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no usage limits.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. All processing happens in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
- What image formats are supported?
- PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF are all supported as inputs. Output is always a PNG with transparency where the picked colors used to be.
- Can I remove more than one color at once?
- Yes. Use the eyedropper or preset swatches to add multiple target colors. A pixel is removed if it matches any of the picked colors within the tolerance you set.
- How is this different from a background remover?
- Color Remover deletes pixels by color match, not by AI subject detection. It is best for removing solid or nearly-solid backgrounds, single-color shapes, or specific tints. For complex foregrounds against busy backgrounds, an AI background remover is a better fit.
